Great & could have been even better June 12, 2010 Jim Fechtenbaum (Miami Beach, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great laptop in a Notebook size with excellent drive storage & powerful processor.
The battery hold about half the time advertise= about 4h.
These days blue tooth technology is all over it could have been great to have it integrated.
A good laptop overall May 21, 2010 Zhou Liang (Shanghai, China) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have done more than one year of research before I made this purchase. I want a lighweight laptop with long battery life and decent performance. At first I considered netbooks, but finally decided to buy an ultraportable because I was not sure if a netbook would be too slow. In general I am happy with my purchase so far, but I will focus on the cons in this review as it will be more helpful to potential buyers.
Pros:
- balanced hardware configuration, loads windows 7 and most applications quickly
- good battery life, no problem reaching 5 hours, though I have not tested it seriously;
Cons:
- Poorly designed touchpad buttons. The 2 buttons are located right on the bottom edge of the laptop, so if you lean back on a chair and place the laptop on your thighs/near your belly (this is a commonly used position for many people I believe), you may find that your belly/belt could eaily have contact with the buttons and lead to a wrong click or keep it pressed down.
- the screen has poor viewing angle, which has been pointed out by several other reviews I read;
- when you close the laptop, there is such a big gap between the screen and the keyboard that a lot of dust can go in. I unfortunatel live in Shanghai, a city with poor air quality. Everytime I open my laptop, there is a lot of visible dust on the screen;
- when I try to create a logical partition, I could only resize the C drive to around 150G and no less. I don't know why this happened.
Again, I am satisfied with it in general.

Je suis PC et Windows 7 c'etait mon idee May 11, 2010 Aisha Jill Morgan (Rohnert Park, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I waited a couple of months to review this computer so I could be sure I continued to like it as much as I did from the first. I do. We've made a lot of trips already and the size, battery life and screen have been excellent on the airplane as a replacement for my equally teeny beloved Sony TR3A. So far no hiccups in dependability or performance.
I carry the Acer in a sleeve in my briefcase which protects it from scratches and can be put through airport security as is as long as there are no wires or cables in the sleeve. For the fingerprint magnet issue, I carry an eyeglass cloth in the sleeve. I'm the one in the airport shining the top of my laptop.
I really appreciate the 3 USB slots, the two-finger mouse actions, the VGA connection for my LCD presentations, and definitely Windows 7 was my idea. And to JK, I am successfully networked to my Windows XP desktop so hope you resolve that problem.

Nice computer - no customer support from Acer March 25, 2010 JK 3 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have no real problems with the design and performance of this laptop, except for the trivial problem that it attracts fingerprints like mad. I do have a huge problem with Acer, which provides NO support for the OEM version of Windows 7, even under the warranty period.
Before buying, please be clear on what the warranty covers: It covers 1 year of hardware support only. The only other support is that for 3 months, Acer will reinstall the software, but not provide any other form of support.
I'm having a problem now where after two days the laptop stopped seeing the Windows XP computers on my network. As a result I have no practical way of transferring files.
In summary: If you have any Windows problems, you have to rely on community support or fee-for-service support from Microsoft or Acer's own version of paid support. I'm not sure what service other manufacturers provide these days when it comes to the OEM Windows version, but if there are better options, I would strongly consider this before making a decision to purchase this computer.
Acer 1810 is fantastic! March 17, 2010 A. Gordon (Winter Park, FL USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The best of both world. As small as a netbook, but with all the power of any standard laptop. Windows 7 makes it run a bit slower than I was expecting, but overall a fantastic deal!
