(Yeah, right.)

disappointed
I ordered this camera for my 15 year old granddaughter. She could not get the camera to take one picture. She tried, then her parents tried -- could not get the battery to charge. Unfortunately, she did not tell me until it was too late to send back to Amazon. So I sent it to a Nikon repair center in New York. They said that there was impact damage and it was not covered under warranty.
So it was going to cost $103 to repair it. I called to find out some details about what exactly was damaged because it was not dropped or hit in our possession. They said they would reevaluate the camera and let me know. When I did not hear from them for several weeks, I emailed them. They emailed me back saying I should call them. When I did, I was told they had changed the repair cost to $99. I have no way to prove that it was defective when we got it, but I will not buy another Nikon product. If I had known of the problem early enough, Amazon would have taken care of the problem. I have always had great service from Amazon.

We bought this camera roughly 2 months ago to use in place of an HP camera we have that chews through batteries.
We have heard great things about Nikon, particularly their lenses. Good lenses should equal good, sharp pictures.
The primary issue with the camera is that it does not focus. The vast majority of pictures taken with this camera are out of focus. The camera offers multiple focal points and that may be the root cause of the problem. I often don't even click the picture because the camera chooses the oddest items it the picture to be the main focal point.
When I contacted customer service they asked me to send in sample pictures. After a couple of rounds their advice was to change the ISO settings from Auto. If I want them to check out the problems further I must send in the camera at my own expense.
I have a Digital SLR to be used in some situations and a point-and-shoot in others. One of the key features I like about a point-and-shoot is that I don't have to mess with ISO, aperture, and shutter speed settings. All I (should) have to do is point and shoot.

I have had this camera for about 3 months and I absolutely love it. I haven't found anything this camera cannot do, or that it does wrong. The battery lasts practically forever, I've only charged it 3 times and I use it a ton. The movies are really good, and so is the picture quality. There are lots of white balance options so it works anywhere, and it has special modes for certain occasions. There are even a few different flash modes good for indoor or outdoor pictures. This is the first camera I have had and I recommend it to beginners and experts!

Bought the camera for my wife to take to mexico with us on vacation. After four days the camera would not work outside. I sent it back and instead of giving me another they are trying to fix this one. I would not recommend this camera.
