Amazon.com Product Description Get in on all the action with the Uniden BC350C, a powerful radio scanning and searching unit. In search mode, The BC350C can search 13 bands to find active frequencies. This differs from scanning in that the unit searches for frequencies that have not been programmed into the scanner's channels. The scanner automatically chooses between two speeds (Search and Turbo Search) while searching. During search mode the scanner will search 100 frequencies per second, while in Turbo Search Mode the scanner can achieve up to 300 frequencies per second in bands that have 5 kHz steps.p In scanning mode, The BC350C scans programmed channels at the rate of up to 100 channels per second until it locates an active frequency. When scanning stops on an active frequency, it remains on that channel as long as the transmission continues. When the transmission ends, the scanner stays on the channel for 2 more seconds, waiting for another transmission. If no response is detected, the scanning cycle resumes until another transmission is received.p The BC350C monitors these communication types: ul liPolice and fire departments (including rescue and paramedics) liNOAA weather broadcasts (10 pre-programmed channels, 2 are Canadian Marine Weather Channels) liCitizens Band (CB) liBusiness/industrial radio liMotion picture and press relay liUtility liLand transportation frequencies, such as trucking firms, buses, taxis, tow trucks, and railroads liMarine and amateur (ham radio) bands liAir band liMany more in the 25-54 MHz, 108-174 MHz, 406-512, and 806-956 MHz ranges, excluding the cellular telephone band /ul p The BC350C ships with a DC power connector and a cigarette lighter adapter, making it ready for permanent or temporary vehicle use.p bWhat's in the Box/bbr BC350C scanner, telescoping antenna, fixable mobile antenna, AC adapter, cigarette lighter adapter plug, DC power cord for hard wiring power from your car to your scanner, operating guide, registration form, frequency guide, warranty card, and other printed materialsp bNote/bbr The installation, possession, or use of this scanning radio in a motor vehicle may be prohibited, regulated, or require a permit in certain states, cities, and/or local jurisdictions. Your local law enforcement officials should be able to provide you with information regarding the laws in your community.

One great scanner! December 12, 2008 This scanner works just great! I am with a local Fire Dpartment, and it's important to know what's going on in my area (other than my personal pager, of course)! Highly recommend it!!
Police Scanner October 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product did not meet my expectations. In the description of the product it did not explain that it would not work on every police frequency available. It does not pick up any digital trunking frequencies, which is what my local police, fire, and other emergency services uses. It was totally useless to me except to get a local weather band.
dissapointed!! September 16, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm a noobie at scanners, but this is now a paper weight on my desk. The description gives the impression that police/fire rescue can be monitored with this unit, when in reality,99% of all municipal frequencies are trunked, which makes this scanner useless to me.Deceptive advertising on Uniden's part.
first time scanner user August 2, 2008 this is my first scanner. from what i have learned it seems everyone starts out with this model or similar. its simple to use, it does not need to be technical unless you want to make it. i do recommend using the plastic copper core antenna to put on a window, as it got me a distance of 40 miles, the straight metal antenna was just good for local stuff. this is a product i could easily recommend to anyone that wants to hear new things and listen to the weather as it happens,br /thank you,,
Good scanner, enjoyable to use. February 10, 2008 I've got several of these BC350C scanners and enjoy br /them very much. Yes, they are klutsy when programming br /frequencies into the "Private" bank, but once you getbr /the hang of it, it becomes a breeze. Also there are nobr /"Priority" channels, so you could miss some action on your br /favorite channel(s). That said, I'm very pleasedbr /with the BC350C scanners.br /
