Great GPS unit January 7, 2009 I've been wanting a GPS unit for a long time and checked out the various brands, selected Garmin, and then had to decide which model to get.br /br /I was eyeing this unit and got it for a sweet price in a black Friday sale. Otherwise, I would not have purchased it since I cannot understand paying over $400 for a GPS unit.br /br /This one is nice with the (free) traffic and the multi-lane assistance. I used this on a long, 9 hour trip across 4 states and it worked flawlessly. And, I have to admit, it made the trip less stressful and actually enjoyable.br /br /It almost became a game to see whether I could beat the estimated arrival time the unit predicted. It was spot on with it's estimates (and a lot more accurate than google maps which said my trip would take 11 hours).br /br /Overall, the system is very easy and intuitive to use. I don't see a benefit to spending a lot more money and going with the 800 series over this one.br / br /I know there are reviewers out there who complain about the bluetooth and the picture/mp3 capabilities and give the unit a low rating. I cannot understand the logic behind those complaints. This is a GPS unit and I want it to give me directions. This is a solid unit and you cannot go wrong and will not be disappointed.br /
Average GPS, nothing extraordinary, you can find something better for same price. January 6, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I spent several months reviewing all brands and functionalities on GPS and finally I decided Garmin for some reasons. After couple weeks of usage I can say Im not 100% satisfied with the product. Is to slow to calculate routes, acquire satellite signal and not enough points of interest loaded. Good thins are, FM transmitter, bluetooth connection with my mobile, 3D view on buildings(just fancy you never use it)and free traffic updates.br /br /Many times during the route the equipment just turned off by itself, I call Garmin and they update the software, it looks ok now. Battery runs out very fast.br /br /I don't know but I would like a GPS more accurate and easier to operate. This one when you have to make a turn is confusing because doesn't make any special sound or comment to let you know, so pretty much you have to put a lot of attention....I think I could have a better GPS for that amount of money, just Garmin didn't impressed me.

Compared to other GPS navigators, this one was by far the easiest and most reliable I have ever used. The day of my long trip, I removed it from the box, plugged it in, and away I went. I did not have to read a manual in order to operate this system. Very user friendly. The voice commands are extremely clear and accurately got me to all my destinations with no problems or hesitations. The only drawback was the Bluetooth as others had mentioned. The people that I spoke with on the phone said that my voice was very broken up and hard to hear, however, I could hear perfectly through my stereo sound system. To me all the other features, by far, make up for the difference. Another neat feature was when I removed my camera chip and place it into the GPS to watch the pictures that I had recently taken on my trip. I love the Lane Assistant whenever I was not sure which lane to be in before an intersection change. I also experienced a major traffic accident on the highway and the navigator immediately removed me from the freeway, through alternate routes, and back on where traffic was light. Very quickly reroutes whenever I missed a turn. This is a very important things when you are in a strange place. I highly recommend this system.
Garmin Nuvi 765T January 6, 2009 This GPS has a bright screen. The audio is OK... not great. The accuracy of the directions are erratic. It easily gets "Confused". Satalite acqusition is OF and the lock appears to be strong. Traffic is OK. Location is off greatly. There is no "bell or ding" before it speaks. It does not take zip codes which I think that it should. Lane Guidence and Bluetooth has not been tested. Technical support at Garmin is a big pain.br /br /I would not buy this Garmin Nuvi 765T again unless Garmin greatly improves it and their technical support. I am keeping it only because I need it right now.
Garmin Nuvi 765T ... Could be much better January 6, 2009 This is my first GPS. It appears to function properly most of the time. There are times when it indicates that I am on a street that I have never heard of. br / I have registered and completely updated the unit. It appears to acquire satilites quickly and maintains a good lock; re-routing seems to take more time than I would like.br / I have talked with Garmin tech support a number of times, and I have mixed feelings about them. Some are concerned with my questions; and others appear to care less. br / The Fm radio transmission is adequate, but could be a problem when traveling since a blank station in one area can be occupied in another area. I believe that this is a result of US radio transmission laws regarding the FM output of the GPS. I have not tried the BlueTooth feature. I have not tried the FM traffic nor the lane guidence.br / I noticed that it will give the wrong directions if there are 2 or more similiar addresses that are close together ... I arrived at my destination, and the GPS said that I had 1.6 miles to go to get there. It refuses to accept my hometown; instead I have to use the name of the next town over. It will not accept zip codes which could possibly alleviate this town confusion that it seems to have.br / This GPS does not appear to be as accutate as others that my friends use. It could be off as much as 75 feet.br /The screen is bright and is not diminished by the sun. The sound is adequate so long as your vehicle is fairly quiet. The touch screen is responsive.br / I want to get a GPS for my wife, and I am looking at other Garmins and other manufacturers, because I do not think that she could live with all of its quirks.br / If you get this unit, Register and Update it. I probably would choose another GPS over this one unless Garmin gets it right. Good Luck...
