What a great gift, for my 2 grown sons. I thought. My boys were delight with their gift until the first one plugged it in all you could smell was burning wires, well some times you get a bad one. The second sons, worked great for one day and it too bit the dust. Oh well stuff happens, I returned them;begged my sons forgiveness. The next two came in 0ne DOA and the second dies after one day. I always heard refurbished was better than new. That does not apply to TomTom. I returned the TomTom and went out and bought a different brand. Refurbished Mother

I have really loved this gadget because it has helped me to navigate around in new places I have not been to before. Between the tomtom and an atlas, I was able to get to my destination. Thing is, I had to have an atlas or local city map because it doesn't know about new roads or discontinued roads, even after I update the tomtom on my computer. Also, it has led me down dirt roads that are for state or county vehicles, it has led me into a shooting range (does not know where not to go due to unauthorized zones/areas), and has taken me to dead-end streets while trying to get to my destination. So I have learned to take a local or city map with me as I learn the areas while traveling around.

I bought this refurbished TomTom as a present for my son. In his line of work he needs to find residential addresses all day long. I was leery about buying a refurbished item but can report that the device has been put to the test and has performed perfectly.

I have no other complaints except for the map. It's old one, some roads have already changed but they are not reflected in the GPS map.br /br /Overall 4 stars due to it's cheap price, well balanced functionality and easy usage and the lack of updated map.

This unit is very good. It seems at least as good as others I have owned and used. There is a distinct lack of points of interest compared to Garmin units but this is offset by ease of operation. I do wish this unit would tell me if my destination is on the right or left. Several times I have found myself in the wrong lane of a very busy street.
