So far, so excellent! January 4, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a nice, well-built and good-looking multi-function printer and at $100 you can't beat the price. It is no more noisy than any other I have used. In fact, other than when the paper feeder is loading it is very quiet and smooth. Print quality is excellent but I haven't had it long enough to see how well the standard ink cartridges last.
we often want to hit it with a baseball bat December 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This printer is cost effective, but very annoying. The first one I bought was defective - printed crookedly though the paper loaded straight. Second one works only OK, and there are many design flaws. The slot where the paper goes when you want to fax something is very finicky. You have to insert the paper until it acknowledges it ("adf" lights up in the window and it beeps), though that's very difficult to do. We insert it and wiggle it and tap it and reinsert it over and over, until it finally beeps. It seems like there are both too may and too few buttons at the same time - just poorly designed and not very intuitive. For example, the speed dial button is also the backspace button (not something you'd guess or remember easily), though there's a cancel button and a go back button that feel like they could have been a backspace. There's both an OK button and a start button, etc. The paper is hard to feed into the machine, and the support back is too short, so the paper flops backwards and becomes misaligned easily. Paper jams are common. It's very hard to print something double-sided, as it's very difficult to add a sheet to the existing paper sheets without taking them all out and reinserting the whole pile. Sometimes you have to hold on to the paper to get it to feed properly. Many little things like that feel like people who built it never tried to use it before they approved it for market. My old HP was easy to use and you could use it well without really reading any instructions. Not so with the Epson. The thing that really made us crazy is that it uses lots of the color cartridges even though we really only print black. Yesterday we were finishing our inventory - printing out pages to check off, and the red cartridge ran out. We still had 1/3 of the black left, but it wouldn't print a thing if one cartridge was out. With employees being paid but unable to continue working, I had to run to the store to buy $40 worth of color cartridges for a machine we've decided to return after inventory's done. To print black text. It doesn't interface well with my computer, so we have to turn it off in order to start the computer in the morning, which I read in other reviews that this also uses the ink a br /little every time, by the way. This machine causes us small amounts of stress every day - not something a business owner needs.
Great machine December 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Delivery was right on time as usual. Set up was quick and easy. The only problem I had was a paper jamb the first time. That was my fault for not putting in the paper the right way. It was easy to fix and have not had a problem since.br / As far as the printing quality I think it is excellent. I had no trouble installing the print colors and I think it rivals the more expensive laser printers. Both the fax and scanner work excellent.
It's Everything We Hoped For December 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We're technology dummies at my house. Our first printer was an Epson and it lasted for years, so we were comfortable buying another from the company. We've had it a month or so, don't use it often, but we've been more than happy with every feature we've used: fax, copier (both text and color photos), and printer. Much to our surprise, we were able to hook it up without help; it's that easy. This is only the second printer we've ever had, so I'm not an experienced reviewer, but my family really likes it and would recommend it.
