Creative PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Works Great !! July 31, 2010 Richard I started getting lots of static when using the audio hardware that was installed on my ASUS P5K-E motherboard so decided to purchased this audio card. I'm running VISTA 64 bit with 8 GB RAM. There were not problems installing the board or software except, as others have mentioned, it takes an extremenly long to time complete the software install -- so be patient. As expected, I did need to disable the motherboard audio system so my PC would default to the new audio board.
Great Sound Card June 21, 2010 Jack Brown Really nice audio card. Had to purchase it, due to onboard audio crashing in Vista/Win7, no updates coming for my older motherboard, but put this bad puppy in and it works AWESOME. No drop outs and no crashing the sound. Great!! Only bad part, old drivers on CD. (expected) When to creative's site and updated.
Much better than direct sound June 9, 2010 Dave Guitar (Corvallis Oregon) Installed easy, downloaded Windows 7 drivers. Works fine and noticeably better sound. Glad I did it.
Great product with some annoying issues for me. June 1, 2010 Eric Y. Lin (Irvine, CA United States) The installation is easy, I download the drivers from their website and it works fine with my Windows 7.
My receiver only have digital in so I wanted a sound card that support Dolby Digital Live or DTS connect, this card does both, and that's why I bought it.
Well let's talk about game first. Game works great! I played some SC2 Beta, and Mass Effect 2. Both DDL and DTS connect works great, the quality is nice and clean. There is no lag, great! The game performance alone is worth the money for me.
Now a bit on the downside, the music playback. For some reason, if I use DDL or DTS connect while playing music, the music will pause very often during playback due to some kind of lagging. If I disable DDL and DTS connect, the music will play with no problem. I use itune so maybe that issue only happens for itune..
another thing is the software, it takes FOREVER to load up the X-Fi console and I really don't know why it take so long. It seem like it is detecting the hardware or something, and btw I am using a core i7 so i don't think my computer is slow at all. Please let me know if you don't have the same issue. And lastly, when using DDL or DTS connect, you have to change your sound source to "Speaker" rather than "SDIF out" for some reason, maybe how the hardware wires, but it's kind of annoying to change back and forth since DDL and DTS doesn't perform well for music playback.
overall it's a great card, I just wish software can be more efficient and the DDL and DTS connect can perform better when playing music.
Save your time and money and stay away from this April 27, 2010 WEB-SRFR (Bethesda, MD USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This card has serious issues working with Windows 7. I have wasted about 10 hours of my time and I am now giving up. I called Tech Support and they are some of the most useless support persons I have ever talked with. They have absolutely no desire to help you. The drivers on the Creative Web site do not work on the Windows 7 ultimate installation I have and his solution for me was to wait until Creative releases a driver that works properly on my version of windows. I will never ever buy another product made by this miserable company that provides such miserable support for their customers. If you are running Windows 7, stay away from this sound card. They actually have a Product identification module patch because there is a problem getting this card to run on Windows 7. However in my case, the patch does not run because it claims that I am not running Windows 7 and the support people have no clue on how to fix this.
