Love it! March 13, 2010 cynelda (MIAMI SPRINGS, FL, US) It was a big decision due to the price but am glad I threw caution to the wind and bought it. It was a birthday gift for my 22 yr. old son, who is a very simple fellow and therefore hard to buy for because he longs for nothing. But the Kindle was a great surprise that is easy for him to carry around, easy to load and has free books!!
Great Product March 13, 2010 Terry Sargent (Port Huron, MI) This is certainly a great product. I can read this screen without having to "tilt" my progressive glasses. Just increased the font size. Ordering was as advertised, easy. Cancelling an order worked well to. The leather case is a must. It protects the Kindle and makes it easier to hold. I'm reading more often that I did before. I wish the instructions were better on other uses than books, magazines and newspapers.
For Europeans a Kindle is a waste of money March 13, 2010 Karl F. Koecher (Prague, Czech Republic) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just read in the New York Times Book Review about a spy thriller The Tourist by Olen Steinhauer. When I looked it up on the Amazon web pages, I found that there is Kindle edition. I also found a notice that the book is not available for any European customers "for copyright reasons". This is the fourth book that I would had liked to buy in the Kindle edition, and cannot, for the above reason. Before The Tourist it was War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning by Chris Hedges, Empire of Illusion, also by Chris Hedges, and A Dead Hand by Paul Theroux. "You can read the book you want in 60 seconds" - are you kidding me? I suggest that Amazon puts its act together and resolves this not-available-for copyright-reasons-to Europeans mess without delay if it wants to stand up to the challenge of the coming e-book store of Apple's iPad.
Wish I hadn't waited to get it! March 13, 2010 Christine (Michigan) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered my kindle (and got it right away!) and have been using and loving it ever since the first night! It is every bit as user friendly as it claims to be! It is light, easy to hold and feels sturdy to travel with(I'm not worried about breaking it!) I can get my books in seconds and start reading them immediately...I don't have to wait until I can plan time to make it to the bookstore, I just turn it on and download it instantly; SO EASY!I don't have to worry about any more huge books clogging bookshelves and no more waiting for the bookstore to order me a copy when they sell the last one! I am traveling for a few weeks next month and I have gotten many books for me and my husband to enjoy...who would have thought you could take a dozen books with you on an airplane! This is the best gift to me in a long time! I would give it 6 stars if they'd let me! (I got a case and cover for it...and it is still just as easy to carry and use...it's just protected from my 3 kiddos!) I would recommend this to everyone...teenagers on up!!
Kindle Kindle Kindle! March 13, 2010 mam100 (chicago, il) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Simple and short, I love my Kindle 2. I had mine for about a week and a half and already read about 4 to 5 novels! I didn't think that was possible with my busy, busy schedule. Work, college, and being a young mom of a toddler, has made it almost impossible for me to read, which I love to do. I don't have time to go to a book store and buy novels anymore, the Kindle 2 has made that all possible and easy. Now all I have to do is buy right from my Kindle, or online within like a minute. I read all the time on my breaks and spare time. If I'm not driving my own car or driving I read, even in a dark car, that is what my book light is for. I take it every where it is always with me in my purse. I love how the screen looks like real pages out of a book. The screen is also very clear, so who needs a color screen it is for reading after all. I only use my kindle for reading, not for browsing. I use my internet on my laptop to purchase my books in less than a minute. I love the battery life, can't beat it! Just now charging my Kindle 2 after a week and a half. It is so small and sleek and very easy to travel with. I am so so so glad that I invested in this little device, I would have purchased it sooner if I knew it was such a neat gadget. I investigated before I bought, between the Sony reader and the Kindle 2. The Kindle 2 won hands down, because of the reviews and the book selection. Like I said before, " I love my Kindle."
