| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The Azur 640A v2 includes all the features of the original model, such as an oversized toroidal transformer, short path circuitry, and a raft of intelligent protection systems. But now the amp has more power, 75 watts per channel at 8 ohms compared to 65 watts for the original model. The 640A v2 includes Incognito implementation, too. Incognito is Cambridge Audio's affordable A-Bus compliant system for putting sound and vision in every room of the home. It's fitted with a control bus input and output, along with an IR emitter, making it compatible with multi-room operation. This award-winning integrated also boasts new volume, tone, and balance 'pots,' which are more robust and therefore give a better feel, plus improved channel matching. New input PCB circuitry with buffering lead to better imaging, too. What else is new? How about larger heatsinks, improved chassis isolation, and higher-quality speaker terminals? And how about an updated Navigator remote control with hidden discrete codes? The 640A's 100 watts of power at 4 ohms plus rock-bottom distortion specs of less than 0.005% at 1 kHz bring home better-than-movie-house sound. And its priced way low for its high levels of performance, build quality, and reliability, offering serious hi-fi at an entry-level price tag. The short signal path maintains signal purity. Bass and treble controls let you contour the sound to your liking, or use the 'direct' bypass button to keep these controls out of the signal path. The result of all this fuss and bother is truly superior sound. Hi-Fi World Computer Audio reports on the original 640A, "Outstandingly dynamic, brightly lit and very engaging, the Cambridge is a gripping listen - and considering its price, it's quite remarkable." Six line level inputs plus two tape loop outputs give you plenty of capability. There's also the option of adding a high-quality moving magnet phono stage later, when it becomes available from Cambridge.
