Many receivers are rated for maximum power into 8 ohms but function perfectly well--functioning with about half their rated power--into 4 ohms, too. Wiring a stand-alone powered subwoofer in line with the speaker (a procedure illustrated in the product manual) will heighten the sense of realism and visceral power of the SurroundBar.P For even more spacious sound, you can use the SurroundBar with your existing surround speakers, too. In such an arrangement you can wire the surround outputs from your receiver to your separate surround speakers instead of to the SurroundBar's rear-speaker terminals, using the SurroundBar for the front left, center, and right channels only. Placement directly above or below your TV screen pointed in the same direction as the screen will give the best coordination between your surround sound and the on-screen images. Wall mounting, shelf mounting, table mounting, or stand mounting all work equally well. However, walls or other large obstacles within three feet of the sides of the SurroundBar will reduce the effectiveness of its surround delivery.  Great speakers, too bad Amazon sent me a "re-box" December 14, 2008

The speakers are great, but I was disappointed that Amazon (ordered direct) sent a package that had obviously been previously returned, contained the wrong manuals, and was missing the hardware necessary to attach the speaker to the wall mount bracket. It seems there wasn't even an attempt to QC the package prior to sending out to the next customer. :(

I researched this speaker for months before I finally decided to give it a try. My living room is not conducive to a 5 speaker setup, so I thought a single surroundbar solution would be perfect. I was not disappointed! The surround effect is not what you would get with dedicated surround speakers, but I do get a sense of enveloping surround, especially if I'm sitting directly in front of the surroundbar.br /br /I purchased this speaker along with the Polk PSW10 subwoofer, and together they form a nice setup for watching movies, especially Blu-Ray. The surroundbar is also adequate for my environment for listening to music, but I got it mainly for watching movies. I'm more than satisfied with my purchase and I recommend the Polk surroundbar. Just make sure you match it with a powered sub.

Good looking but lacks "umph". Not as good at simulating Surrond as I hoped for the price.

La mejor compra que eh realizado en mucho tiempo, las manejo con un sistema ONKYO de 130 wats por canal y se escucha de lo mejor.br /Es una opcion ideal para cuando no quieres bocinas por todos lados con los cables a la vista. El sonido es bastante claro y nitido!

Works very well in a small room (mine in 16x12) but does not produce real surround sound from the rear, as one should expect. I gladly overlook that in exchange for not having to lay speaker cables all over the place. I would buy it again.
