Beware February 17, 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! January 1, 2009 I purchased this radio back in March 2007. Clearly, it is 100% terrific. However, apparently I am going to have to toss it in the trash on February 17, 2009 when digital television hits the airwaves. A total pity!br /br /br /Incidentally, in March 2007, this radio cost me $15.44 plus shipping. I guess the increased cost is to cover its new "antique" status.
Excellent Radio January 1, 2009 This radio has excellent reception on AM / FM / TV and Weatherband. Very small and compact and easy to carry with you. I am very pleased with this radio. It is exactly what I was hoping for and what I received...a great product from Sony.
Don't buy it if you want the TV feature! December 22, 2008 We purchased this as a Christmas gift and just received it today. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed when it arrived to see a sticker on the box that said 'due to the switch from analog to digital signals on Feb 17, 2009, this product will no longer receive audio broadcasts of television programs'. That was the ONE and ONLY reason we made this purchase - my mom wanted a radio to use during power outages that had the local TV stations. Save your money if TV is what you're looking for.
Excellent for emergencies November 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I chose this radio as a backup for power/cable outages. The TV band gets good reception (I'm in a metro area with few hills). Unfortunately, when TV goes digital in February '09, the TV reception feature won't work. Sony notes this on the box.br /I've always had good luck with Sony products - you can't beat the quality and dependability. The radio is a good buy, even without the TV feature.
great lil radio! October 13, 2008 I ordered this particular radio based on Internet reviews and it is indeed a great little radio. It offers lots of stations, weather (important for where we live), and works excellent from the batteries. Perfectly sized, light weight, with good sound. I could NOT find a similar item in the big-stores. They offered only CD and/or alarm radios (not needed). This is my portable, dependable, counter-top (or my bedroom bureau top) radio, AND the one we have for storms!
